SF restaurant Maharani falls short
San Francisco restaurants are always booked for Valentines day, so its best to call ahead. Well…an Indian restaurant called Maharani got a call asking for a specific table. See this place has this Fantasy room that is really neat. You get a private booth with pillows and curtains! I specifically said “This reservation is for the fantasy room right?” The man on the other line assumed me this was the case. I was a victim of a bait and switch. This Indian restaurant overbooked the “Fantasy Room” and tryied to get me to take a normal table…didn’t happen.

"I'm proud to have been a Yankee. But I have found more happiness and contentment since I came back home to San Francisco than any man has a right to deserve. This is the friendliest city in the world." - Joe DiMaggio, at his fiftieth birthday party.

I know what you mean! My boyfriend tried taking me to Maharani for Valentine\’s Day. We stood in line for at least 20 minutes before we were seated, in the \"Peacock Lounge\", not the Fantasy Room. The GM tried making my sweetheart look like he hadn\’t made the reservation right - tried to make him look bad in front of me! But we weren\’t the only couple that got tricked that night. We ended up walking out - the best move we could have made. We found a great hibachi place right around the street and had the most romantic and fulfilling dinner. Thank you, Maharani , for giving us a wonderful night at a different restaurant! Write a post if this happened to you too - we saw at least 5 other couples that weren\’t willing to fall for the bait-and-switch.

I was actually there too! It was an amazing site, I couldn\’t believe that they tried to pull
that on everyone. That is not the kind of treatment I expect from a restaurant in
San Francisco, maybe in Oakland or something. Anyone in this place that night, I was in around 7:00pm , you?
